Where and When is the Testing Carried Out?

The air quality in the locality of the Staudinger power plant is being measured continuously over a period of one year. The measuring work started in April 2007 and will continue until April 2008. Responsible for the testing is an independent specialist institute, the TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH, Munich.

The TÜV (Technical Control Board) set up a total of ten measuring stations in the area of the Staudinger power plant. They are located at the following points:

Measuring points

1. Hanau (Philip-August-Schleissner-Weg)

2. Niederrodenbach (Gartenstrasse)

3. Hörstein (Mömbriser Strasse)

4. Hanau-Grossauheim (Vogelsangstrasse)

5. Hanau-Grossauheim (Hergerswiesenweg)

6. Hainburg (Offenbacher Landstrasse)

7. Grosskrotzenburg (Kahler Strasse)

8. Alzenau (Am Kirchberg)

9. Kahl (Aschaffenburger Strasse)

10. Obertshausen (Schubertstrasse)

The measuring points were selected on the basis of so-called dispersal calculations, which take into account the climate and site conditions prevailing in the locality.

Measuring points 1 and 2 (Hanau and Niederrodenbach) and 4 and 5 (Grossauheim) were selected in order to obtain meaningful information on the initial pollution situation in the immediate vicinity of the power plant. Test station 3 (Hörstein) was added as a so-called background (i.e. more distant) measuring point (Spessart).

Test stations 6 to 10 (Hainburg, Grosskrotzenburg, Alzenau, Kahl and Obertshausen) were included in the investigation program as additional locations after consultation with the local government authorities concerned.
