Climate and Environmental Protection
Cutting edge technology - a global leader in environmental protection
Block 6 will see the construction of a large new power plant at the Staudinger site in Grosskrotzenburg. Even if it is going to be one of the most modern hard coal-fired power plants in the world, a project like this naturally raises a number of questions. Of primary interest to the people who live in the vicinity is the question of what impact block 6 will have on the environment. For wherever coal is burnt, it does release harmful substances.
It is precisely in the area of environment technology, however, that block 6 will set new standards. A hard coal-fired power plant of the future is plannend, with the highest level of efficiency and the lowest impact on the environment.
What this will mean in practice is that although block 6 of the Staudinger power plant will generate much more power than in the past, it will not release more pollutants. On the contrary: there will in fact be a lower level of air pollution. Moreover a modern power plant makes a significant contribution to global climate protection. The fact is that it will need less coal to produce the same amount of electricity.
